I cannot agree more but sometimes we have to do what we have to do :( :)

Anyway, I am happy I will not need to run VM anymore just to check e-mail :)

... and it actually seems to be an officially acknowledged bug by IBM. So maybe (you never know with Notes...) it might get fixed.

Hi,

hmm... I remember that error - and I think I fixed it on another machine by following
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/427949
and dumping the suggested work-around libraries from
http://www.benkevan.com/upload/lotus_notes/
into the Notes directory. Maybe that might work for you?

Hi Gordon,

Thank you very much for those instructions. I need to get the Lotus Notes 8.5 on my machine and I am on Sabayon 5.0 (upgraded from 4.2 and have both KDE & Gnome). I followed your instructions and got the Notes running but have a strange problem: when the notes window open I can see the 'Getting Started' pane in the main area in the window just fine but when I try to switch to 'Home' or open 'Mail', 'Calendar', etc. this area is empty and I cannot make the information to show up.

When start in console I get a lot of messages but several draw my attention:

"libnuma: Warning: /sys not mounted or no numa system. Assuming one node: No such file or directory"

And I see repeated many times following excerpt:
